RTX 4060: One can only hope that the benchmarks that have now been leaked are wrong

Data for the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060 has now appeared in Geekbench, which casts anything but a good light on the card. It took a long time for the new generation of graphics cards to arrive in reasonable-price regions. For example, the Radeon RX 7600 for less than 300 euros or the Geforce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, which is now available for 400 euros.

On June 29, the next offshoot of Nvidia’s RTX 4000 series is scheduled to be launched – the RTX 4060. The price for this is 329 euros, slightly more than the current street price for the RX 7600.

A benchmark for Nvidia’s entry-level class has now been leaked, which should give some indication of where the journey is going in terms of performance (via Toms Hardware ).

Not even as fast as the RTX 3060 Ti

The RTX 4060 achieves a Vulkan score of 99,419 and an OpenCL score of 105,630 on Geekbench. What does that mean in relation to other accelerators?

The comparison to the direct predecessor RTX 3060 and the RTX 3060 Ti is particularly exciting here – data for the RTX 4060 Ti from Geekbench are not known.

Model cores Boost clock speed Storage RRP
RTX 4060 3,072 2.46GHz 8.0GB GDDR6 329 euros
RTX 3060 Ti 4,864 1.67GHz 8.0GB GDDR6/6X 399 euros
RTX 3060 3,584 1.78GHz 12.0/8.0GB GDDR6 329 euros

The RTX 3060 scores 85,996 (Vulkan) and 88,280 points (OpenCL). This would make the RTX 4060 around 16 to 19 percent faster than its predecessor. The RTX 3060 Ti comes in at 104,776 (Vulkan) and 112,159 points (OpenCL) and would even be a bit faster than the RTX 4060.

How do we assess the situation?

If the data is confirmed, it would be a big disappointment and the RTX 4060 slower than hoped. After all, at least the two-year-old RTX 3060 Ti should be caught up, if not overtaken.

In the end, however, the number of computing cores is quite a bit lower. Tatkrate and more modern architecture may not be able to fully compensate for this. This is also supported by the manageable performance of the RTX 4060 Ti from the test linked above.

The data from Geekbench should always be treated with a certain degree of caution, as experience has shown that they fluctuate greatly. Nevertheless, they are the first indication of the performance of the RTX 4060.

What do you all mean? In fact, will the RTX 4060 not even be able to beat the RTX 3060 Ti? Or do you not trust the data from Geekbench? Write it to us in the comments!
