As usual, older models like the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X will get a stripped-down version of iOS 17. To date, the devices have had to do without certain functions of iOS 16, such as the cropping of motifs.
It is therefore conceivable that the six-year-old devices will no longer receive the next update in 2024.
Release: When will iOS 17 be released?
We will have to be patient until the final release of iOS 17. The presentation of the new version will take place at the developer conference, from June 5th to 9th, 2023.
Based on the update cycle of the last three years, iOS 17 will probably be released for all compatible iPhones in mid-September.
iOS 17: when does the beta start?
Shortly after the presentation at WWDC 2023, the first beta version will probably be distributed to the developers.
Last year, the public beta was released a month after the presentation of iOS 16. It is quite possible that Apple will only release the public beta version again many weeks after the developer conference.
How to sign up for the iOS 17 beta
If you want to participate in Apple’s beta program when the iOS 17 beta starts, you have to register your iPhone for it in the first step.
